Cecil Rides Again

Ah, yup. The news is not good, but this race is apparently not quite over.

My beta doubled. It is now a whopping 16. Now, that's half as crappy as Monday's news, but half of "really crappy" is, by my calculations, still pretty crappy.

The nurse at Kaiser tried to find a glimmer of hope in this latest development. On the other hand, the nurse at the fertility clinic said, categorically, "This is an abnormal pregnancy. That is not a normal embryo. I'm very sorry."

So, we're not holding out any real hope, but I have to admire our Cecil, slow and tenacious little bugger that he is, for hanging in there.

Oh, Cecil, if there is any hope at all that you might be viable, we're rooting for you to go the distance. If not, that's ok. Your mere presence gives us the hope to try again.

I had a feeling it wasn't over yet! I think this is great news. At betabase there are women with betas as low as 3 at 14DPO who go on to have successful pregnancies. I will continue to keep everything crossed for you.

And poo on that nurse. Does she have a crystal ball, or does she just like to spew negativity everywhere she goes?

Binky, Well, this is the news I was hoping for, minus the interpretation by the fertility nurse. I love the image of your little turtle fighting it out. I sure hope you turn out to have a crazy story to tell to this baby about his/her beginning down the line, but I also understand that it might be a crazy story that you can't share with him/her. I will hold out hope for you, and love in the case that hope doesn't work this time. I'm not expressing myself well. I'm thinking of you.

Oh Binky, you've been in my thoughts a lot the past few days. I hope that this ends up being really good news for you.

16! That's what I was hoping for!

OK, universe, since you're listening... let's go for 32 next time! Can we do it? I think we can...

Go, little Cecil! Hang in there!

I was hoping for 16 too! And I agree about the nurse. Unless she had a deck of tarot cards in her hand as she said that to you, she needs to shut her effing mouth. I will remain quietly hopeful that the turtle snuggles down in the next few days and your betas skyrocket.

Oh Binky! I've been thinking about you a lot the last few days. I'm also hoping for the quirky outcome, slow and steady and all that. I'll continue to hope if that's alright, with all sorts of things crossed...

I'm hoping for you, Binky. I know how grueling the betas can be--be extra kind to yourself.

Oh Binky, I know you don't want to get your hopes up, so we'll keep hope alive for you. I hope you are doing ok all things considered. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you.

I hope the news continues to improve, Binky. If you feel like company, there will be a gathering of people at my house Saturday evening. Please come if you're in the mood.

Well I'm feeling optimistic. Really hoping and crossing fingers and chanting for everything to go your way, because you really never know, the game's not up, there's still hope! Best of luck and go little turtle!
